About the Student Governing Board

SGB's Mission

The mission of the SGB is to serve as a liaison between students, faculty members, administrators, and alumni. The SGB works to promote and enhance student educational experiences by representing student concerns to the Library and Information Science administration, alumni, and faculty, to the Graduate Students' Association, and to the university administration and by sponsoring academic and social activities.

SGB is primarily concerned with what students think about what is going on in the Department of Information Studies. We provide a liaison to all faculty meetings to discuss student concerns with the chair of the department as well as faculty. Secondly, SGB sponsors several social and academic events. We are responsible for such events as the Alumni Mixer and providing a speaker at graduation. The SGB is also responsible for compiling Student Photo Albums and coordinating Locker Assignments.

The Student Governing Board (SGB), a graduate student organization within the Department of Information Studies at UCLA, is primarily focused on students' concerns in the Department of Information Studies.
